Every month the community picks five songs, and everyone tries to record themselves playing them. It's the one part of riff.quest where other people hear you play, and it pays better than anything else in the app.

While one board is live, the next one is being decided. You nominate songs you'd like to see, and back the nominations you like the look of.

The archive
Old boards don't disappear. You can still record songs from a closed month and the recording lands on that board; it just doesn't pay points or Fame. Back-filling a year of challenges was never meant to be a shortcut up the rankings, but catching up on a song you missed is fair game.
The challenge board is the fastest legitimate Fame in the app. If you're saving for an Elite case, one recorded song is more than double the price of a Standard one.

Do I have to play it perfectly?
No. This isn't judged or scored; a recording that exists counts
Where does the video live?
You link a video and it shows up in Recordings, where other players can watch, like and comment
Can I submit the same song twice?
No, one recording per song per month, so pick the take you're happiest with
What if I don't like any of the five?
Vote next cycle. Nominations are open the whole time the current board is live
