Fame & Where It Comes From

The spending currency: what practice itself pays, the fixed rewards, everything the community pays you while you're not looking, and why it never touches your level.

Fame is the money. It buys cases, gear, parts and mods in the Arsenal, and it does nothing else — no level, no rank, no effect on your points. You can't buy it with real money, and nothing in the app is gated behind having a lot of it.

It comes from far more places than points do. Points have one real source, practice; Fame has about a dozen, and several of them pay you while you're asleep.

Practice pays Fame as well

This surprises people who assume practice is points-only. It isn't: every session you log pays Fame too, just on a different shape of curve.

12

for 15 minutes in a day

16

for 30 minutes

23

for an hour

33

for two hours

46

for four hours

Rounded, and these are Fame, not points. Notice how the gaps shrink: the first fifteen minutes pay better per minute than the fourth hour.

Three things are worth understanding about that curve, because they change how you'd play it:

It counts your day, not your session
Splitting two hours into six short reports pays exactly the same as logging it in one go. There is nothing to game here
Short and daily beats long and rare
The rate per minute falls the longer the day gets, which is the opposite of how points work. An hour a day for a week pays far more Fame than seven hours on Sunday
There's a daily ceiling
The practice curve stops paying somewhere past six hours in one day. The fixed rewards below are added on top of it and aren't affected

On top of the curve there are two modifiers:

1
Showing up

A flat daily bonus once your streak is running — a few Fame from 3 days, more from 7, more again from 30. Paid once a day, on the first session that earns anything

2
Playing accurately

A session scored through the microphone at 85% or better has its practice Fame multiplied. It's the one place accuracy pays you anything at all

3
Logging late

A back-dated session pays a small fixed amount instead of going through the curve, since the day it belongs to has already been counted

Fixed rewards

These are the big, predictable payouts. Most of the Fame that ends up buying a Legendary comes from here.

+300

a monthly challenge recording

+500

bonus for clearing all five

+50

clearing a Scale Map box

+40

finishing your daily quests

A full challenge board is 2000 Fame in a month, which is why it's the fastest legitimate income in the app.

Monthly challenges
300 Fame per accepted recording, plus 500 once every song on the board has one. Recordings on a closed month's board pay nothing
Weekly Milestones
Each level you've unlocked pays out every week you meet its goal, from 20 Fame a week at the bottom to 300 at the top, and every unlocked level you've met pays at once
Daily quests
40 Fame for finishing all three, once you press Claim
Scale Map
50 Fame each time you clear a full box, alongside the points
Season placings
Finishing a month in the top five pays 500 / 300 / 200 / 100 / 50 Fame when the season closes

The community pays you

This is the part people miss. Once you've put something out there, other players' actions credit your account without you doing anything.

+20

someone saves your playlist

+5

someone likes your playlist

+5

a thank-you on an exercise you shared

+1

someone likes or comments on your recording

Plus 1 Fame the first time another player completes an exercise you wrote. Your own plays and likes never count.

Tip

This is the closest thing to income the app has. Publish the exercises you write and the playlists you build once, and they keep paying long after you've forgotten about them. A playlist that catches on is worth more over a year than most of the fixed rewards.

There's one thing you get paid for doing yourself: rating a song's difficulty pays 3 Fame the first time you rate a given song. Small, but it costs you five seconds and the ratings are what make the difficulty tiers useful for everyone else.

And selling

Everything in the Arsenal can go back out again. Scrapping gear breaks it into parts, selling it pays Fame outright, and the Market lets you put a listing up at your own price for another player to buy. Gear you'll never equip is Fame you haven't collected yet.

What Fame doesn't do

It doesn't touch your level
Levels come from points, and no amount of Fame moves one
It isn't on the main rankings
The season and all-time boards count points only. The gear board is the only one Fame reaches, and only through what you've equipped
It isn't required
You can practise, log, learn songs, keep a streak and climb the rankings without ever opening the Arsenal
It can't be bought
There's no way to convert real money into Fame

Questions people ask

Do I really get Fame just for practising?

Yes, every logged session pays some. It's smaller than the fixed rewards and it tails off over a long day, but it's there

Why did a two-hour session pay less Fame than I expected?

The curve counts your whole day and flattens as it goes, so the second hour is worth less than the first. Points don't work that way — those stayed flat

What's the fastest way to earn it?

Recording a monthly challenge song. One accepted recording is worth twice a Standard case

What's the least effort?

Sharing exercises and playlists, then forgetting about them. Other people's likes and saves do the work

Can I lose Fame?

Only by spending it, or if someone un-likes something of yours. It's never taken away for inactivity

Does Fame affect my rank?

Only the gear board, and only through the gear you've actually equipped
