Practice Routines & Auto Plan

How routines are put together, how Auto Plan builds a session around the time you have, and how sharing exercises with the community works.

A routine (the app also calls it a practice plan) is nothing more clever than an ordered list of exercises with a name, a difficulty and a category. You follow it top to bottom, and at the end it logs the session for you.

PracticePractice Routines

Ready-made routines, playalongs, your own plans, and plans shared by other players.

Three ways to get a routine

1
Use a ready-made one

The app ships with plans for common goals, so start here if you don't know what you need

2
Build your own

My Stuff → Create Plan. Pick exercises, put them in the order you want, save it and reuse it forever

3
Let Auto Plan do it

Tell it how long you've got and it assembles a session for you

Auto Plan

You choose a length between 15 minutes and 2 hours, optionally narrow it down to certain categories or a difficulty, and it does the rest:

1
It filters

Only exercises matching the categories and difficulty you asked for stay in the pot

2
It shuffles

So you don't get the same session two days running

3
It fills your time

Exercises are added until the plan is close to the length you asked for, then it stops

4
It always gives you something

If nothing fits your filters in the time available, you get a single exercise rather than an empty plan

The difficulty label on a generated plan is worked out from the exercises that actually got picked, so a "medium" plan really is a medium mix. Before you start you can reorder exercises, drop the ones you don't fancy, or re-roll any single exercise for a different one.

Your exercises and the community

Every exercise you create sits in one pool; a single public/private switch decides who sees it.

My Exercises
Everything you've written, public or private, under My Stuff
Community
Only the public ones, browsable by everyone and sorted by rating, under Practice → Exercises

Community exercises can be rated one to five stars. Sharing pays a little too: a "thanks" from another player pays you +5 Fame, and the first time somebody other than you completes your exercise pays +1 Fame. Playing your own exercise doesn't count towards its play count.

Creating or editing an exercise opens the tab editor, where you can write out the notation. When you publish it, you choose whether it goes public (the default) or stays private to you.

Questions people ask

Do I have to finish a routine for it to count?

No, whatever you actually played gets logged. Finishing simply means everything is ticked off

Can I edit a ready-made plan?

Not in place, but you can build your own version with the exercises you like

Is a routine worth more points than free practice?

No. Time is time. Following a plan does let you tick the Exercise plan habit, which is worth a point

What happens to a shared exercise if I make it private again?

It leaves the community list. Ratings and Fame you already earned stay
