Arsenal

Practise for real. Spend it on a rig.

Every minute you practise pays Fame. Spend it on cases of guitars and pedals, build them up in the Workshop, and wire a pedalboard that pays you back every hour you play. None of it makes you a better guitarist. It is what the practice buys.

Free. Fame is earned by playing and cannot be bought.

The loop

Practice pays, the rig pays back

Fame is the currency of the Arsenal, and practice is where it comes from. The better the rig you build with it, the more each hour of practice pays.

  1. Practise

Every session pays Fame on top of points: more per minute for a short daily habit than a marathon, and more again when the microphone scores you at 85% or better.

  2. Open cases

Spend the Fame on cases of guitars and pedals. A bad-luck counter on every case guarantees a new model or a rarer drop after a run of repeats.

  3. Build it up

Restore the condition, add build levels, fit mods and merge duplicates in the Workshop. Every step raises the item's level.

  4. Play your rig

Equip your best guitars and wire a pedalboard. Your rig pays Fame for every hour you practise, and a board wired in the right order pays more.

The maths

What a day at the guitar is worth

Practice pays on a curve that favours a short daily habit over a marathon. Your rig adds a rate per hour that grows with its level. Move the sliders: these are the formulas the game pays with.

Cases

From 180 to 1200 Fame

The dearer the case, the better the odds. Every gear case counts your bad luck, and when the bar fills it owes you a model you have not found or a rarer drop. Open five or ten at once, and the last one in the pack is owed a new model, or a Rare or better once nothing new is left.

The collection

88 guitars and 54 pedals, no two quite alike

Each one is drawn for the game, with a rarity, and rolls its own condition, year and country of make when it drops, so two copies of the same model are rarely worth the same. The Dex keeps every model you have ever found.

The Workshop

Make the copy you love the best one

Scrap what you do not want for parts, and spend the parts on what you keep. Every job raises the item's level, and the level is what your rig is ranked on.

  • Restore
Take an item up a condition grade at a time, all the way to Museum. It adds Item Level, never resale value: restoring is for keeps.
  • Build
Fit one more upgrade, with no ceiling. Every level asks for more parts and rarer ones, and pays more on a rarer instrument.
  • Mods
Hand-wound pickups, a bone nut, stainless frets. Mods are things you own: they come off scrapped gear, from the Trader or from other players, and each has to physically fit the instrument.
  • Merge and rework
A duplicate merges into your best copy for extra levels. A pile of common parts reworks into rarer ones, the only road to a Unique part short of scrapping a Mythic.

The rig

A pedalboard wired like a real one

Equip your guitars and stand your pedals on a board. Your Rig Level, the sum of everything in service, ranks you on the gear board and sets what each hour of practice pays.

  • Every cable that runs into the pedal that belongs next pays 2 Fame an hour.
  • A board of 3 or more pedals with nothing out of order adds 6.
  • A pedal in every stage of the chain, from tuner to reverb, pays 50 an hour on its own.
  • Every pedal needs an output on the power supply, so a bigger brick is the first upgrade a growing board wants.

Beyond the cases

Shop, trade, order, or build your own

Trader

The game's own shop. Parts by the piece, one loose mod, two guitars and two pedals a day, the same stock for everyone.

Market

Other players' listings: guitars, pedals and loose mods, priced by whoever put them up.

Commissions

From level 30, order any model still missing from your Dex by name, for Fame and the parts it is made of.

Guitar Builder

Collect bodies, necks, headstocks, pickups and finishes from the Parts Crate and assemble a guitar of your own, named by you.

Why it exists

Gear is the reward guitarists already chase

Points and streaks tell you that you practised. They do not give you anything to want. Every guitarist I know already wants something: the next pedal, a better guitar, a board that finally sits right.

So the Arsenal turns practice into that. It is kept apart from your level on purpose: what you play decides your ranking, and the gear is only what the time at the guitar buys. And it cannot be bought, because a reward you can pay for stops being a reward for practising.

Frequently asked questions

Every case, job and price in detail is in the knowledge base: Arsenal and gear

Can I buy Fame with real money?

No. Every route to Fame is in the app: practice itself, daily quests, weekly milestones, monthly challenges, seasons and what the community pays you for things you share. Riff Quest is free, and nothing in it is sold.

Does gear make me better or raise my score?

No. The Arsenal is a separate game with its own ranking. Your points, level and streak come from practice alone; the gear is what you spend the reward on.

Are these real guitars?

They are virtual instruments drawn for the game, with their own names, rarities and conditions. You collect them, you do not receive anything physical.

I keep opening duplicates. What now?

Merge the duplicate into your best copy of the same model for extra levels, or scrap it for parts. Every case also counts your bad luck and guarantees a new model or a rarer drop when the bar fills.

Why does the order of my pedals matter?

Because guitarists settled on a running order decades ago: tuner first, dirt in the middle, delay and reverb last. A board wired that way pays Fame every hour you practise, on top of what the gear is worth.

How long until I can afford something good?

A Standard Case costs 180 Fame. Half an hour of practice a day pays about 16 from the practice curve alone, finishing the daily quests adds 40, and your rig adds more the bigger it gets. The calculator on this page does the maths for your own numbers.

Your next pedal is a practice session away.
