Progress
See what your practice actually built.
Every session you log turns into points, a level, time per category and skills that grow with the exercises you play. The app keeps the books, so you can see the work instead of guessing whether it is paying off.
Free. Practise in the app or log what you played elsewhere.

Points and streaks
Showing up beats a marathon
Practice pays a flat 22 points an hour, every category the same. The multiplier comes from your streak: practise on consecutive days and everything you log is worth more, up to +50%.
- Day 1+0%
- Day 2+20%
- Day 3+30%
- Day 4+40%
- Day 5++50%
Miss a day and the streak starts again. Ten minutes is enough to keep it.

Levels
A level is hours you put in
Your total points set your level, and each level takes a little more than the last. Points only measure work you did and can never be spent, so a level is a fair record of time at the guitar.

Where your hours actually went
Every session is broken down for you, so the week you thought was all technique shows up as what it really was.
- Time, by categoryTechnique, theory, hearing and creativity, so you can see which one has been quietly left behind.
- Every session on a timelineYour practice history as a chart and a heatmap of days, back to your first session.
- The numbers that matterAverage session length, points per hour, your longest session and your best streak.
- Per song and per exerciseTime spent on each song, your best score on each exercise and the tempo you reached.

Skills
22 skills that grow with every exercise
Alternate picking, legato, bending, chords, ear training, improvisation and the rest. Every exercise is tagged with what it trains, and finishing it in a logged session feeds those skills: 1 point for an easy exercise, 2 for a medium one, 3 for a hard one.
- A map of the whole librarySeven milestones from Foundations to Mastery, and every exercise in the library as a dot on its branch, easiest first.
- Gaps you can seeA branch with one filled dot is not a failing grade, it is a shortlist of what to play tonight.
- Only ever upSkills never go down. The number is a record of attention paid, so a quiet month does not cost you anything.
Achievements and profile
77 badges, and a profile to wear them on
Streaks, hours, sessions, songs and more, each badge unlocked by something you actually did. They pay nothing: they unlock titles, profile banners and accent colours, and you choose which to show.

Why it exists
Progress on guitar is slow enough to be invisible
Riff Quest started as my own fix for this. Getting better at guitar happens in steps too small to notice from one day to the next, and an evening that felt like nothing is easy to write off as wasted.
Numbers do not lie the way that feeling does. A month of half-hour sessions shows up as hours, a level and a skill that moved, even when your hands have not told you yet. That is what kept me practising, and why the streak rewards showing up rather than heroics.

Frequently asked questions
Every way to earn points, in detail: Points, levels and streaks
Do I have to log everything by hand?
No. Practise in the app and the log form opens with the time and the exercises already filled in; you only save it. Practice away from the app can be logged by hand in a few seconds, up to a week back.
Can my points go down?
Only by undoing something you were paid for, such as moving a song back out of Mastered. Nothing is taken away for a quiet week.
Do longer sessions pay more per hour?
No. Practice pays a flat 22 points an hour. The bonus comes from the streak: practising on consecutive days adds up to 50% to everything you log.
How do skills grow?
Every exercise is tagged with the skills it trains, and finishing it in a logged session adds to those skills. Skills never go down: the number is a record of attention paid, not a grade.
Do achievements give rewards?
They pay no points and no Fame. They unlock titles, profile banners and accent colours, and you can pin your favourites to your profile.
How is this different from a practice journal?
A paper journal records what you write down. The tracker adds it up for you: totals per category, streaks, levels, skills and a history you can scroll back through.
